I do road cycling and burn about 1200 calories PER HOUR pedalling at about 18mph. Doing this like 3 hours straight is a tremendous amount of calories. Only when nothing left body starts to burn fat but it takes at least 1hr to oxydize the fat cells for them to start releasing the fat for energy. Wtf man. Muscle sore-ness as most people know often takes up to 48 hours to heal, that’s 2 days of your body working on repairing itself whilst you’re killing it on another part of the body. Fundamentally, this will benefit fat loss if you’re are the gym at least 5-6 days a week doing weights. Long period cardio on the other hand, such as road cycling like you do, benefits very little to muscle building/fat burning in the aesthetics way that most people are looking for. Take a Tour De France cyclist like Lance Armstrong and a Track Sprint cyclist like Robert Forstemann, the difference is plain and simple, HIIT + weights (Forstemann squats like a fucking boss btw) and the result is a fucking beast of a body.
